That little warning light on your dashboard shaped like a horseshoe with an exclamation mark – it’s your TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System). If it’s on or flashing, something is wrong.
A faulty TPMS light is an NCT fail. We can test your existing TPMS sensors and replace them if needed. Fast turnaround. No appointment needed.
Mon-Fri: 8.30am – 5.30pm
Sat: 9am – 4pm
Closed daily for lunch: 1pm – 2pm
TPMS stands for Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It's an electronic system in your car that monitors the air pressure inside your tyres and alerts you when pressure is low.
| TPMS Type | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Direct TPMS | Sensors inside each wheel measure actual pressure and send data to the car’s computer. |
| Indirect TPMS | Uses wheel speed sensors to detect under-inflation (no physical sensors in the wheels). |
Most modern cars (post-2012) use Direct TPMS with sensors inside the wheels.
If your TPMS light is on and your tyre pressures are correct, the sensors are likely the problem.
We use a TPMS diagnostic tool to scan each sensor. The tool tells us:
We’ll tell you which sensors are working and which need replacement.
We remove the tyre from the wheel, replace the faulty sensor valve, and refit the tyre.
We program the new sensors to your car’s computer so the system recognises them.
We verify the TPMS light is off and all sensors are communicating correctly.
Most TPMS sensor replacements take 30-45 minutes, depending on your car.
The NCT tests your TPMS on every car equipped with it. If your TPMS warning light is on or the system is faulty, you will fail the NCT, even if your tyres are perfectly inflated.
The NCT tester checks:
We can test your TPMS sensors, identify faults, and replace dead or damaged sensors. You go back for your free retest.
The best time to replace TPMS sensors is when you’re getting new tyres fitted. Why?
When you buy tyres from us, we’ll test your TPMS sensors for free and advise if they need replacement.
| Cause | Why It Happens |
|---|---|
| Dead battery | Sensors have internal batteries that last 5-7 years. They cannot be recharged. |
| Damage during tyre fitting | Sensors can be broken if not handled carefully. |
| Corrosion | Valve stems corrode, especially in winter salt. |
| Impact damage | Hitting a pothole or kerb can damage the sensor. |
| Age | Electronics fail over time. |
“When you get new tyres, ask us to check your TPMS sensors. It’s the perfect time to replace them.”

We’re in Wexford town. Open Monday to Saturday.
Call us for a price. It depends on your car’s make, model, and sensor type (OEM or aftermarket).
No. Just call in or phone ahead. We work on a first-come, first-served basis.
Usually 30-45 minutes, depending on your car and how many sensors need replacement.
The sensors are likely faulty (dead battery, damaged, or corroded). Call in for a diagnostic test.
No. The light is there for safety. We need to fix the underlying problem – usually replacing faulty sensors.
Yes. That’s exactly what we do. We’ll test, replace faulty sensors, and clear the fault codes. Go back for your free retest.
Typically 5-7 years. The internal batteries cannot be replaced – you need new sensors.
If your car has TPMS, yes. The light will stay on if you fit wheels without sensors. We can fit sensors to your winter wheels.
Yes. Saturday 9am – 4pm. Closed daily for lunch 1pm – 2pm.
Yes. We offer a mobile service during office hours.
We can confirm the TPMS light is off and the system is functioning correctly before you leave.
